Hey there! I'm Sagar Mashalkar, born on December 3, 1996, in Ambarnath, Mumbai. I started my journey in the world of cinema with a bit of an unconventional route—I initially studied Mechanical Engineering, earning both a diploma and a degree. But even while I was knee-deep in technical studies, my heart was always drawn to the arts. I found myself irresistibly pulled towards theatre and cinema, and before long, I was writing and directing one-act plays, mostly in Marathi.
Currently, I’m diving deeper into the film world, studying Direction and Producing for EDM at SRFTI in Kolkata. My debut short film, *Lovebuds* (2023), was a Hindi film that marked the beginning of my journey as a director. Since then, I’ve had the chance to direct and assist on several film school projects, each one a new learning experience.
In 2024, I took on a new challenge by making *Flying Wheels*, a documentary about extreme sports enthusiasts in Kolkata. This project was an exciting opportunity to explore a different side of filmmaking, and I loved every minute of it.
My journey as a filmmaker is still unfolding, and every project I work on teaches me something new. I’m excited to keep growing, facing new challenges, and telling stories that resonate with people.
