CONVOCATORIA Y REGLAMENTO PARA LA DECIMONOVENA EDICIÓN
La decimonovena edición de Shorts México-Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes de México se llevará a cabo del 1 al 30 de septiembre de 2024 con sedes en las 16 alcaldías de la Ciudad de México, incluyendo la Cineteca Nacional, Centro Cultural Universitario de la UNAM, Casa del Lago de la UNAM, Faros y Centros Culturales pertenecientes a la Secretaría de Cultura de la CDMX.
INFORMACIÓN GENERAL
SHORTS MÉXICO, es el festival cinematográfico, especializado en cortometrajes, más grande de América Latina; una plataforma que apoya y promueve expresiones creativas de cineastas emergentes y consolidados de todo el mundo, en su última edición presentó más de 1000 cortometrajes y se realizó en formato híbrido con exhibiciones presenciales y virtuales en línea, superando el millón de espectadores. El ciclo Noche de Shorts México se realiza en formato presencial, virtual y televisivo durante todo el año, ahí se presentan estrenos, exhibiciones, retrospectivas, charlas con profesionales del medio cinematográfico y clases magistrales. El Tour Shorts México incluye exhibiciones presenciales y virtuales en ciudades y localidades de la República Mexicana, así como en diversos países. Shorts México Academy ofrece una opción académica para incentivar la profesionalización en diversas áreas de la cinematografía. El festival contará con las Competencias: Mexicana de Ficción, Animación, Documental, Neomex, Competencia de Pitching, Work In Progress y Guión Cinematográfico de cortometraje, con el objetivo de fomentar la creación, profesionalización y la producción cinematográfica de calidad.

El comité de selección de SHORTS MÉXICO se reserva el derecho de crear otras secciones competitivas. Al inscribir tu cortometraje al festival te hace elegible para todas las secciones oficiales, tanto competitivas como muestras y programas especiales.

FILM SUBMISSION REGULATIONS
SHORTS MEXICO - Mexico International Short Film Festival call for entries begins March 1st through May 31st ,2024 at 23:59 (CST) Mexico City. We are open to receive Short Films from all over the world inviting all production genres.
SHORTS MEXICO has become the biggest International short film festival in Latin America. An exhibition platform specializing in short films. It promotes cinema creative expressions, diverse voices, distinctive and innovative visions, bold quality films from filmmakers from all over the world. At SHORTS MEXICO we encourage the growth and development of short films as well as the filmmakers.
The 19th Edition of SHORTS MEXICO will be held from September 1st through the 30th 2024 in Mexico City. The National Cinematheque of Mexico is the main venue of the festival, and it amounts other important venues as CINEMEX Theaters, one of the largest cinema chains in the world, world famous Vasconcelos Library, Centro Cultural Universitario de la UNAM, CDMX´s Faros and Cultural Centers, etc. The festival amounts over 35 venues in Mexico City and holds exhibitions in every one of the 32 States of the Mexican Republic, so the event truly occurs throughout Mexico. Since the pandemic, SHORTS MÉXICO is presented in a hybrid format, holding virtual and televised exhibitions as well, having over 1 million spectators per edition.
Throughout the year the festival features previews, exhibitions, retrospectives and master classes. The Shorts Mexico Tour includes cities, towns and villages of Mexico, as well as exhibitions in various countries around the world. Shorts Mexico Academy conference cycle includes an academic offer aimed at developing professionalization in various specialized areas of filmmaking. The festival will also present Shorts México Pitching Competition, Work In Progress Contest, and its Screenplay Short Film Competition, with the goal of encouraging and promoting the creation, professionalization and production of quality films.

PREMIOS
Se premian a las Competencias Mexicanas (Ficción, Pitching, Work In Progress) con servicios de producción estimados en más de $1.500,000.00 MXN para la realización cinematográfica del siguiente cortometraje de los directores ganadores.
Los cortometrajes mexicanos seleccionados en cualquier competencia del festival podrán registrar su cortometraje al premio Ariel de la AMACC (Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas) y ser elegibles para nominación.
A todos los seleccionados se les entregará una constancia de participación en Shorts México-Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes de México.
Los premios que se entregan en el marco del festival son:
Competencia Mexicana de Ficción
Mejor Cortometraje Mexicano de Ficción,
Se realizará la producción del cortometraje del director ganador, con un valor aproximado de $800,000.00 MXN. El premio incluye: 3 días de paquete de filmación, Mini Móvil, Planta de luz de 800 amp, cámara y óptica set de lentes high speed, por la empresa CTT Exp & Rentals; postproducción de imagen - corrección de color y DCP por Cinecolor México, 100% de descuento sobre el costo de adquisición de los seguros de filmación por LCI Seguros. ESTUDIOS CHURUBUSCO otorga el equivalente a $250,000.00 (Doscientos Cincuenta Mil Pesos 00/100 M.N.) en servicios de producción, postproducción de audio y sonido THX, no incluye materiales ni operadores. SHALALA Studios postproducción de audio - diseño sonoro, LA FACULTAD DE CINE $15,000.00 (Quince mil pesos 00/100 MXN), en efectivo, MAXY´S Catering 3 días de catering para 20 personas, RETROBYTE y DINAMITA POST otorgan Trailer y Poster, IP9 STUDIOS premia con 2 días de foro y Alonso Alaman música original.
Además, se entrega estatuilla y diploma. Las decisiones respecto a la producción y realización del cortometraje ganador serán tomadas por el comité del festival en consenso con el director ganador. El cortometraje se exhibirá en la siguiente edición de SHORTS MÉXICO.

JURADO
● Las secciones competitivas de SHORTS MÉXICO serán premiadas por un jurado, elegido por el comité del festival, que estará integrado por reconocidas personalidades y profesionales del medio cinematográfico nacional e internacional. Así como distintas disciplinas artísticas.
● La decisión del jurado será inapelable.

MEXICAN COMPETITIONS
Best Live Action Mexican Short Film.
Best Live Action Mexican Short Film, the awards consists in the production of the next shorts film for the winning director. A new short film will be carried out, with an approximate value of $800,000.00 MXN. The prize includes: 3 days of filming package, Mini Mobile, power plan, camera and high speed lenses - optics set, awarded by CTT Exp & Rentals; image post-production - color correction and DCP by Cinecolor México, 100% discount on the cost of acquiring filming insurance by LCI Seguros. ESTUDIOS CHURUBUSCO grants the equivalent of $250,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pesos 00/100 M.N.) in production, audio post-production and THX sound services. SHALALA Studios awards audio post-production - sound design, LA FACULTAD DE CINE $15,000.00 (Fifteen thousand pesos 00/100 MXN) in cash, MAXY'S Catering 3 days of catering for 20 people, RETROBYTE and DINAMITA POST provide Trailer and Poster, IP9 STUDIOS rewards 2 days use of studios and Alonso Alaman original music.
The produced short film must be showcased in the next edition of SHORTS MEXICO.

The jury will be free to grant mentions deemed appropriate.
Certificates
All the selected films will be given a certificate of participation in México International Short Film Festival - Shorts México. The Mexican short films selected in any competition of the festival will be able to submit their short film to the Ariel prize of the AMACC (Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences).
JURY
Competitive sections of the festival will be awarded by a jury chosen by the festival´s committee that will be composed of renowned personalities and professionals of the film industry and juries from different artistic disciplines.
Jury's decisions are final.
