Founded in 2017, KIFF aims to bring meaningful films from around the world to children and teenagers in Hong Kong. We believe that films are a powerful medium to enrich cultural learning and inspire young minds. KIFF's vision is not only to encourage children to watch film on big screens, but also to learn to appreciate films from different cultures, which in turn will ignite their imagination, nurture their creativity, and broaden their minds.

There are no limits nor criteria for selection, nor themes or techniques. All movies must be children and family friendly. All content submitted to us must be in English or with English subtitles. All successful entries will need to provide a ProRes, with English and original subtitles in text or burnt in. We will be choosing approximately 10-15 short films to be showcased at our carnival section of the festival (out of competiton, and not theatrical) during our festival period in July-August 2024. No screening fee will be offered, but we will send back translation in our local language for your use if that becomes available. Selected films will be contacted by our staff directly. Please note that selected shorts will be shown repeatedly in a public area at KIFF carnival in Elements Mall.

Filmmakers are responsible for sorting out the copyright on their own materials.

We may promote your film through social media, for which we may require all available promotional materials.

By submitting to us you give us the right to screen your film at HK Kids International Film Festival (KIFF) and KIFF Short Film Festival.

We retain the right to change the date and venue of the festival under special circumstances, which all filmmakers will be informed about through our online platforms.

By submitting to us you agree to our terms and conditions and to receiving marketing newsletters and discounts about film festivals in the form of emails. We will never sell your information to third parties.

  • It was a real honor to be selected at HKKIFF. I was particularly moved by the enlightened feedback the selectors gave for my film. Many, many thanks again!
