LA’s Rich & Successful Film Festival (RSFF) is a presentation of Los Angeles’s most exciting rising talent. Grounded in camaraderie and celebration, our festival is more than just a one-night event—it’s the gateway to a true indie filmmaking community whose members support and empower each other long after festival season. We are proud to be hosting RSFF 3 at the historic Egyptian Theatre presented by Topcat LLC, co-presented with the American Cinematheque.

Founded in 2021, RSFF curates a slate of short films by LA-based filmmakers across all genres. We strongly encourage attendance by filmmakers at the festival, which creates a supportive and hyper-engaged atmosphere where films are devoured, relationships are fostered, and talent is discovered.

RSFF has sold out each of its first two iterations, including last year’s celebration at the 400+ seat Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills. We pack the house with both emerging talent and the industry mainstays looking for them (ex: A24, CAA, Fox Searchlight, Netflix, UTA, and WME). RSFF is a shorts-only festival, so these execs attend specifically to discover up-and-coming filmmakers, just like you.

“I was so impressed with the energy and atmosphere of this festival, and discovered so many talented, emerging artists. Really special night and can’t wait for the next one!” – Brennan O'Donnell, Head of Talent, Grandview

“This festival put me on to some incredibly talented up and coming filmmakers! Such a fun night with great films and people. Can’t wait to attend the next one!” – Saba Kinfe, Creative Executive, SunHaus

As filmmakers ourselves, we know the only thing harder than making movies is getting recognized for them. We created RSFF to give your film and the people who made it the love and attention they deserve, while also providing the resources, opportunities, and industry connections usually only afforded by larger festivals—and, of course, kind and talented people to grow alongside. By filling this niche, RSFF has become the linchpin of a thriving LA independent filmmaking community.

Furthering our mission of cooperation and connection, RSFF is a non-competitive festival. Instead of awards, we provide exclusive workshops, panels, and sponsorships (Seed&Spark, Shotdeck, and more), as well as an open afterparty where filmmakers and attendees can meet, mingle, and pave the way for even more creative collaboration. We’ve also established the RSFF Filmmaker Fund, which helps offset the cost of future productions by promising local filmmakers.

All Official Selections—plus some additional films that we loved but weren’t able to program—are featured in our RSFF digital catalog, which we distribute to festival attendees and industry professionals. All filmmakers with work in our digital catalog receive access to festival workshops.

We originally named our festival “rich and successful” aspirationally, if a bit ironically. But two years later, after multiple sold-out celebrations and dozens of incredible films screened, we really do feel rich and successful—and we think you will, too.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• We consider films in any language as long as the filmmaker is currently based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. If your film is not in English, make sure it has English subtitles where necessary.
• Work in progress films are considered at submission as long as the final cut will be ready for screening at least 3 weeks prior to festival date. Please include a title card describing what’s unfinished at the beginning of the submission screener.
• Your film must have been completed no earlier than September 1, 2022
• We consider films regardless of their premiere status. If your film has already premiered at another festival, whether it screened at a physical venue or online, it’s still eligible for consideration.
• We consider all shorts and are genre-agnostic. Send us whatever you’ve got!

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
• All films must be submitted by the deadline.
• Though not required, we encourage submissions that are 20 minutes or less in length.
• Deadlines close at 11:59 PM PST.
• We will contact entrants if there's anything wrong with the submission. If this occurs, you will need to fix the submission issue by the requested deadline, otherwise we can't guarantee that your film will be watched in time.
• We do not provide refunds for festival entries.
• Entrants can update their screener by uploading a new video file provided your original link url does not change. The link must stay the same after you have submitted your entry. If it is replaced programmers will lose access to your screener and it may not be watched in time for consideration.

IF ACCEPTED
• If accepted, filmmakers are expected to attend the festival.
• Accepted filmmakers will be notified via email. Filmmakers must confirm their participation by the given deadline or will be unable to participate in the festival.
• Accepted filmmakers must be the authors of their submitted work and must be ready to sign an agreement stating that they own all rights to their film and its components ahead of screening with RSFF.
• If accepted, entrants are responsible for delivering their festival exhibition copy, trailer, screener link, press stills and press-kit on time.
• Exhibition copies must be submitted in DCP format.
• We do not cover shipping expenses for screening copies and other materials.
• We do not provide screening fees.

I unfortunately wasn't able to attend, but heard great things from our DP and one of our actors who went to see our short "Fishers of Men" in the fest. I also got a bunch of meetings out of it, so can't really ask for more than that. It was a packed and enthusiastic house and we'll definitely be submitting future work. Thanks for having us!!

Awesome festival! Felt very connected as an attending filmmaker, and loved the lineup of films in general. Really cool to meet/see local LA films in a historic theater. Can't wait for next year!

This was truly an unforgettable festival experience. The films were amazing, the venue was incredible, the audience was packed and enthusiastic and so many meaningful connections were made. The team did such a great job that’s it hard to believe this was only their 2nd year doing this festival! Will always be submitting my work here. Thank you, RSFF team! Y’all outdid yourselves with this and you should be very proud of yourself. Submit here!
