Online Screenings:

Submissions in a category not meeting the forty-five minute maximum threshold will be screened but may not qualify for distribution. All selected films must remain available on the website for at least one year. However, the filmmaker (submitter) may request to remove and replace the film link with its trailer or vice-versa with a 30-day notice.

The JARO Screening Room will consider film from all creative categories; however, it is specifically seeking work for inclusion from several genres: Animation, Documentary, Music Video, Short, Action/Thriller, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Mystery/Suspense, Romance, Sci-Fi / Fantasy, and Web Series. While all genres will be accepted, not all will gain entry into the distribution and financial award phases of the Screening Room.

Rules & Terms

How Entry in the JARO Screening Room Works:

A filmmaker must submit their work online through FilmFreeway, on JARO Screening Room on watchjaro.com, or on one of its FilmFreeway's film festival submission partners’ websites. Films must be in English or have English subtitles. Each film will have its own page and the submitter must provide view permission and download access to the complete film and trailer. Multiple film genres will be sought, and all genres will be considered for acceptance. However, not all will enter the Screening Room film festival distribution, judging and award phases. By completing and submitting an entry form either on the JARO Screening Room homepage or through one of its partners, the filmmaker is acknowledging their understanding that the festival will not pay them to present their work on the JARO platform and all derivatives thereof.

Filmmakers must agree to let their films be shown at the discretion of the JARO Screening Room. This means that the filmmaker may not receive the opportunity for his/her film to be showcased on the JARO Media Services digital platform. Top films from all categories selected by the Screening Room Jury unless otherwise specified, will be shown on https://jaromedia.watchjaro.com/shorts-categories/ and will be rated by the JARO as a part of the review process for final film selections. All film category winners must agree to let their films be shown on the JARO platform.

After the submission is complete and the film is accepted, JARO will upload and embed your film/trailer on the JARO digital platform for its audience to view provided the selected work is made accessible to JARO in the required format with password entry to its current location (e.g., Vimeo, YouTube etc.). Full access must be granted to JARO Media Services LLC to download films and trailers to the JARO platform to avoid disqualification. Selected films will be highlighted and promoted on the JARO platform.

Services:

By submitting your entry on FilmFreeway, you agree to allow JARO use your submitted data to create promotional materials to be published on the JARO website and social media platforms.

Rights:

By submitting your film to our festival, you agree that your artistic content (film of any length and its trailer) can be uploaded/embedded on the JARO website and other of its associated media platforms. The filmmaker submitting the film must own the rights to do so and is responsible for the content they are providing. By submitting the film, the filmmaker allows JARO to create a promotion page and marketing collateral for their film without infringing copyright of any kind of form.

Notifications:

All filmmakers whose work is selected for the JARO Screening Room will be informed only by email that their film has been selected for publication. The decision of the JARO Screening Room internal jury is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection status.

Disclaimer:

By entering your film for consideration for the JARO Screening Room, you authorize that your work is cleared for on-line festival exhibition and accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property therein. Entry into the Screening Room constitutes permission to exhibit your work online (full film or trailer, depending on your preference) at the discretion of JARO. JARO is also hereby granted the right to utilize the e-mails through which the entries were submitted as well as excerpts from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the festival for promotional purposes. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless JARO Media Services LLC from and against all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered. JARO MEDIA SERVICES LLC DOES NOT PAY SCREENING FEES. By submitting your film via FilmFreeway you acknowledge that the festival will not pay to present your work.

Laurels:

Filmmakers are allowed to use JARO Screening Room laurels on their selected films ONLY. They can be used on posters as well as on other media available. The OFFICIAL SELECTION transparent laurel will be provided to winners and nominees.

Timeline & Fees:

FilmFreeway Gold is an optional upgrade that allows only FilmFreeway Gold members to receive discounted pricing on submissions to verified Gold festivals. JARO Screening ROOM offers a 15% discount across all submission categories.

Each entry will be accompanied by non-refundable fees. The entry fee and services fees are not refundable for films that are not selected. Entries will not be processed without entry fee payment. If required, the submitter will be responsible for all shipping fees. The festival will not pay any courier charges. The categories and related fees follow:
