The Cyprus Horror Society is an IMDB verified festival. As the first ever Horror Film Festival in Cyprus, our aim is to create a sense of community; for all horror lovers in Cyprus but also the world! Our Festival will have its 3rd Annual Screenings and Award Ceremony in January 2025.

Rules & Terms

Rules:
1) To submit a film to our awards, you must have created the project yourself, own the rights or have permission from the owner of the content to submit the film to us.
2) All films must be submitted in a digital format. We prefer DCP but we will accept HQ avi, mp4, mov.
3) ALL films MUST have English subtitles (and if possible, greek subtitles) incorporated in the film and not as a separate file.
4) We accept Horror, Thrillers, Mystery Thrillers, Psychological Horrors/Thrillers, Animation Horror/Thrillers

WE DO NOT ACCEPT:
1. Pornography.
2. Amateur videos i.e. films with a poor production standard (bad sound, lack of
subtitles/ captions for non-English films, video resolution less than 720p HD).
3. We do not currently accept scripts.

We reserve the right to disqualify films that feature a significant political or religious agenda. Once selected, we might use small clips, posters for promotional purposes.

FILM ENTRIES & RUNTIMES
Feature Films: All Films above 50 minutes in length.
Medium Films: All Films between 30 minutes and 49:59 minutes in length.
Short Films: All Films below 29:59 in length.

PLEASE MAKE SURE FILMS ARE ENTERED INTO THE CORRECT RUNTIME OR ELSE BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED.

CYPRUS SPECIFICATIONS
To qualify for the ‘Cyprus’ award, your principal production crew must be based in Cyprus.

    My team and I were very happy to have made it amongst the finalist of this festival. We were very satisfied with the communication, which was on point and quick, the information that has been shared with us from the onset. We appreciated their following and interaction on our socials, especially since many festivals just try to entice you to submit and then forget about you. We unfortunately couldn't make it to the event, and we found it sad to see that our short, though finalist, hasn't been shown, but we suppose it was down on the capacity of screenings the festival could accommodate each day. For any horror movie enthusiasts and makers, we warmly recommend submitting your productions.

    An incredibly great festival. Communication has never been better. We even received photos directly from the screening. Finally a festival that gave feedback. Which is very important for filmmakers and their projects. If you are very impatient like me, you should be patient when the awards are announced. Because Cyprus Horror Society makes it d*** exciting. Absolutely great!
