CALL FOR SHORT FILM SUBMISSION

Submissions for CinemAsia Film Festival 2026 are now open. In the inaugural edition of our open call, CinemAsia welcomes short films by filmmakers of Asian heritage produced in the Netherlands. The festival aims to foster an inclusive society by enriching the public discourse on Asian culture through an intersection between Asian cinema, popular media, and community building. CinemAsia platforms and showcases the diversity of Asian cinematic talents through the eclectic film programme.

The festival will take place between 8–12 April 2026 in Amsterdam.

We are looking for short films, up to 30 minutes made by filmmakers of Asian heritage that are produced in the Netherlands. There are no restrictions on premiere status, and we welcome directors, casts and crews of all nationalities.

The film must have been completed from January 2025 onwards.

We accept films in all languages, and all films should include English subtitles.

The person submitting the film must hold full rights to the film. CinemAsia will only contact the person whose contact details are listed in the submission.

Fee waivers are available at the discretion of CinemAsia. To request a waiver, please email programme@cinemasia.nl with the title of your film, director’s name, production year, production country, runtime, and reason for requesting a waiver.

TERMS FOR SELECTION

If your film is selected, you must be able to provide an English subtitled DCP for your film. The festival will not produce DCPs on behalf of the filmmakers or cover the costs of producing a DCP.

By submitting your work to CinemAsia, you agree, if your work is selected, for the festival to use the publicity stills, trailers, and clips from the film for promotional purposes through 2026.

Selected films are offered a one-off screening fee. The screening fee is based on industry standards, and the size of the screening event.
