The GAP Children's Film Festival runs every two years. The first event was held in 2022, as part of The GAP Festival, a registered charity in England & Wales (Charity Number 1161360) established over 10 years ago to promote interest in the arts.

The main purpose of our Children's Film Festival is to introduce and encourage local children in Berkshire and Oxfordshire to the joy of filmmaking. For 2024, we have introduced a new, worldwide short film category, to showcase international work by children.

We are a small village, with a venue capacity of 170. So unless you live in Oxfordshire or Berkshire we encourage you not to travel to the film screening premiere event, unless your film has been shortlisted. Thank you!

To submit a film:
Step 1: Create an account at www.filmfreeway.com
Step 2: Create a project page & upload your finished film
Step 3: In the film festival section, search for the 'The GAP Children's Film Festival'
Step 4: Click on the 'Submit Now' button.

Good luck!

U12 category is available to those aged 12 and under at the time their film was made. The person making a film submission must be within the correct age range based on the age of the filmmaker at the time of the film's creation. Parents are allowed to assist children but children must do all script writing, filming, editing and any visual effects (VFX) by themselves. Films that were completed between 2022-2024 are eligible for submission but films submitted to our festival in previous years cannot be re-submitted.

All entries whose original language is not English must be subtitled or dubbed in English.

Refunds:
Once your work has been submitted to the festival no refunds are available, this includes if the submitter withdraws their film, or if the festival disqualifies for any reason. Organisers reserve the right to amend festival categories and awards.

Music:
Local resident, Lucas Friedmann, has very kindly offered filmmakers who are submitting entries to The GAP Children’s Film Festival (and who live within the Berkshire and Oxfordshire area) free use of the music catalogue: London Sync. By using music from London Sync, filmmakers can be safe in the knowledge that the music they use is cleared for worldwide use, at no extra cost. Visit London Sync’s website to browse their extensive catalogue of music https://londonsyncmusic.com/. You can use the search function or browse via “albums” or “playlists”. To submit a free licensing request, or for any other questions, email lucas@londonsyncmusic.com

Premier Event:
Event times and ticket information for the red carpet premiere to be confirmed closer to the event time. Please note that your registration, or shortlisting of your film does not automatically guarantee you entry into the premier event and all tickets will need to be purchased, as there is limited capacity at the venue and this allows us to keep ticket prices low.

By entering the film festival you are allowing the festival to screen your film (or extracts) on our social media and website and to also name those involved with making the submitted films in our press and publicity. Please have permissions from all those featured in your submitted films and for under 12s category, a parent or guardian permission.
