Yann les Jours was born in Lyon (France), he lives and works in Berlin (Germany).
He studied History of Arts and English literature at Lyon II Lumières University. He attended the Documentary Summer School at Locarno Film Festival and Ji.lhava IDFF Academy.
He had his first artistic training and professional experiences as dancer _ as Yann Gibert _ for various directors and choreographers: Marina Abramović, Felix Ruckert, Miguel Pereira...
From 2011 to 2018 Yann les Jours directed documentation films for stage performances. From 2020 Yann les Jours directed various music videos, films, and a series of reports for Berlin based Ukrainian NGO Vitsche.
His debut short film Repetitions had its world premiere in 2022 at Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen.
In 2023 Yann created a triptych of short experimental documentaries where various poetic structures would set the architecture for his films:-The haiku Mars premiered at Short Waves Poznań in the RAW Competition.-The villanelle kindergarten also premiered in 2023, at 20minmax Ingolstadt ISFF.-The sonnet Sonnet is in post production.
In 2024 he started a research collaboration with viola improviser Marie Takahashi entitled E(oe), where his filmic experimentations on empathy mechanisms on screen meet the player's musical responses. The public version of this research project premiered very late at night at OHM club, Berlin, within the KOOKOO party of 12th January 2024.
Besides those films, Yann has also directed music videos for Mary Ocher (premiered at Leeds IFF 2021), TIN and Manu Louis.
