Stan Lewis is a pastor, author, and photographer. He is also a fifth-generation native of Florida and is married to Kristin. They have three daughters - Brittan, Lauren, and Ashlyn and a couple of sons-in-law, but he can’t remember their names. Having grown up near the beach, he greatly loves the mountains and places without any sun-burnt tourists who talk funny. His favorite mountains are in Nepal and New Zealand, but any will do, except the ones in Alabama, which are kind of lame. Stan’s first love is the Lord Jesus Christ, and he has been a follower of Him since September 11, 1984.
Stan attended far too many colleges and institutions of higher learning to list, and in reality, some are far too embarrassing to mention, and others might be embarrassed if they were mentioned. Besides, no one enjoys having to comply with cease and desist orders.
Stan’s professional experience proves he’s not a deadbeat who calls himself a writer just to get out of real work or to impress soft-headed waiters for free food. He has written both non-fiction and fiction books as well as several feature length screenplays. He served in the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps, worked as an adjunct professor, and in various roles in multiple churches across the Southeastern United States. One other place of employment was a frame shop, but they probably should have fired Stan because he couldn’t match mat colors for fussy old women. He is passionate about humanitarian work, having served in nearly thirty countries in various capacities, been chased a few times by secret police (in the nice countries of Iran and Kazakhstan), was in a helicopter that accidentally landed in a special forces base in a foreign country (the US Ambassador earned her pay that day), and eaten some strange things like horse, Vegemite, and Canadian bacon, which isn’t even bacon.
Stan is an introvert by birth and an extrovert by training, which means social occasions annoy and drain him, but he smiles and acts like he enjoys them, as a good Southerner should. He is detail-oriented and doesn’t handle chaos very well. Faith, loyalty, and courage are characteristics he looks for in people whom he studies and associates with. As his career is very demanding and, at times, draining, silence and solitude are essential in keeping him refreshed. Therefore, he finds peace in the natural beauty of God’s creation by spending time outdoors or by going to a theater playing a Star Wars movie that was written and directed by Rian Johnson because no one will be there.
The hobbies and interests that Stan engages in include traveling, encountering new cultures, photography, woodworking, hiking, science fiction, clay shooting, boating, aviation, and being a booster for the University of West Florida women’s volleyball team. Some books he enjoys are The Pilgrim’s Progress, The Pilgrim’s Regress, military biographies, any book by Adolph Saphir, and his favorite Quantum Realms and String Theories: Navigating the Multidimensional Labyrinth of Nonlocality, Entanglement, and Wave-Particle Duality and the Theoretical Foundations of Subatomic Realities.
Stan resides in Florida, which is sadly nowhere near the mountains but his home sits at 235 feet above sea level, which is about the highest point in Florida. Stan and Kristin are "dog people" even though they currently don't have a dog, but they do have an angry feral cat named “Goose,” which is a female, of course.
