Jane was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia identified as non-binary with an ethnicity as Indonesian-Chinese. She has 11 years of stills photography experience, and 3 years of filmmaking experience. That which included 1st AD, camera operator, best boy, production and gaffer assistants in 2019 and 2020. Her short film ‘Nessie’ (2021) is her directional debut into stepping up as every role necessary to create a heartfelt story that was shot during lockdown - roles also included composer on FL studios and editor on Premiere Pro. As a producer, Jane became well versed in the film festival circuit; ‘Nessie’ won an Audience Choice Award for UK’s Lift-Off Film Festival (where she was seated at a director’s round table held at the UK office), an official screening at Golden Short Film Festival in Italy 2021, a screening in Moscow shortly after for the Children’s International Film Festival and an Australian Premiere at the Fringe Festival in Adelaide 2021. This year, she produced a short French film, Lucy (2021), and then went on to direct, produce and DOP for a Music Video, Canvas (2022), which she is also currently editing. It’s themes center around abuse but creatively addressed in a way that uses symbolism. She will continue to pursue projects based in Australia as a writer, director or producer and collaborate with like-minded visionaries to creatively address difficult topics that have the potential to bring about social change.
