The Open Door Short Film Showcase is a twice yearly online collection of the best short films from around the world. A showcase that promotes and encourages distinctive filmmaking. We want to help your voice be heard, and your film to be seen. More often than not filmmakers are faced with rejection, but here at The Open Door Short Film Showcase we believe in opening the door to filmmakers. Giving them an opportunity to have their work brought to a wider audience with industry professional reviews and exclusive awards. Your short film is the key. Be award winning!

Awards & Prizes

Each short film selected to take part in The Open Door Short Film Showcase will receive our unique Golden Key Award. Be featured on our website (or just a trailer if preferred) for as long as desired, as part of our Award Winning Archive. Tweeted about to our thousands of followers and reviewed by one of our industry professional judges.

Rules & Terms

INFORMATION:

The Open Door Short Film Showcase is exclusively an online Showcase at this time. Submissions must be made online (via www.filmfreeway.com/festival/TheOpenDoorShortFilmShowcase ) and Official Selections will be featured on our website (www.theopendoorshowcase.com). Official Selection and award notifications will be delivered electronically. Physical prizes will be mailed to the award winners at our expense.

If a short film is accepted, entrants will be solely responsible for delivering their materials to The Open Door Short Film Showcase. A complete press kit and an online link to your film (or Trailer if preferred) will be needed as soon after notification as possible. The Open Door Short Film Showcase cannot be held liable for your exhibition print/video materials which are lost or damaged.

By submitting to the showcase you agree to be included in The Open Door Short Film Showcase’s promotional material (newsletters, flyers, media, etc.).

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

1.1. Short Films 30 minutes or less in length, that do not require a completion date.
1.2. All entries must be either in English or subtitled in English.
1.3. Entrants confirm and warrant that they have required legal authority to submit the entry into the showcase and to use all music, images, and content.
1.4. Films must be submitted digitally via FilmFreeway.
1.5. The Open Door Short Film Showcase is only accepting completed works at this time; no works-in-progress will be considered.
1.6 There is no premiere requirement for selection. Films that are available to view online are also acceptable.
1.7 We accept national and international submissions.

2.0 Judging and Selection:
2.1. All entrants will be notified regarding inclusion in the Showcase by shortly after the final submission deadline via www.filmfreeway.com/festival/TheOpenDoorShortFilmShowcase. A member of the Festival committee will also notify each Official Selection entrant by email.
2.2. Judging decisions are final.
2.3. Judges feedback on unsuccessful entrants will be delivered via email within due course after the final submission deadline. Depending on demand. Date subject to change. 

2.4. Submissions that are found to have violated any of the Eligibility Requirements listed above may be disqualified at any time.

3.0 Submission Categories and Costs:
3.1 Please select the category that best suits your short film. These are guidelines only and The Open Door Short Film Showcase reserves the right to showcase the short in a different category if the film is selected.
3.2. Entrants may choose to submit films with or without FEEDBACK. Entrants who submit films into the categories WITH FEEDBACK will receive a copy of the Judges feedback for that particular submission, regardless of Official Selection.
