This is a great festival! The one-minute film is an art form different from any other, which is something many festivals (even those that focus on "short" 10 or 20 minute films) don't adequately appreciate. It's great that the Miniature Film Festival is one of the festivals trying to change that, and trying to spread appreciation for the one-minute film. Communication was excellent: notification of Official Selection status was timely, and the festival made it very clear exactly what was needed, and by what date, to meet the festival's screening requirements as an Official Selection. The festival was also very forthright about the fact that it isn't a huge festival and doesn't have the budget for huge screenings, so it certainly didn't create any unrealistic or "puffed up" expectations. The low submission fees contribute to making the fest a great value, which is significant in light of the fact that many "short" film fests charge a submitter the same fee amount whether the film submitted is one-minute long or 20, despite the clear difference in the amount of time/work needed to evaluate films of such different lengths. I hope to see this festival continue to grow - we need more fests that not only recognize, but actively celebrate, the one-minute film!
