Raktim Mondal, turned from cinematographer to director.
Raktim Mondal holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Motion picture photography from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute -SRFTI,Kolkata under the guidance of the greatest Indian cinematographer Mr.Subrata Mitra ISC . He began his career as cinematographer in 2004.
He has done the cinematography for films in several languages like Hindi,Bengali, Assamese,Nagames and Nepali with eminent directors ranging from Ketan Mehta, Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Soojit Sirkar, R Balki, Haobam Paban Kumar and others.He has shot many Tv commercials and documentaries with national and international collaborators like BBC, NHK-Japan, CCTV-China, NFDC and Films Division.He is acclaimed for his cinematography work in film ‘Toba Tek Singh’ directed by Ketan Mehta, film -‘TRP Aru’ in Assamese , film ‘Onek Diner pore’ in Bengali.
He was nominated for best cinematography in documentary films at Madrid international film festival in 2015. He received the 6th Assam state film award 2015 for best cinematography in 2002. In 2022 he bagged six awards for best cinematography for a Bengali short film ‘SOI’.
He makes his directorial / producing debut with Bhat Kaporer Swapno (Dream for Livelihood) in Bengali which is a short documentary,Official selection and nomination for Golden Royal Bengal Trophy in 28th Kolkata International Film Festival, KIFF 2022.

He shared his knowledge as guest lecturer in cinematography for St .Xaviers College -Mumbai,KIIT - Bhubaneswar, Amity University- Kolkata, Filix School of Education-West Bengal and The Photography Club of Basirhat College,West Bengal.
