Sam Vanivray started making movies when he was a kid. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, and after establishing a career in robotics, Sam returned to filmmaking.
His first feature film "Brute Sanity" hit festivals in 2017, ending with a packed showing at the Boston Sci-Fi Film Fest in 2018, followed by worldwide distribution with Amazon, Walmart, Peacock, VUDU, Roku, Tubi, etc.
He now lives in Los Angeles.
Klutch is my attempt to write an action film that is, at its core, a feminist spin on neo-noir. I also wanted to depict the diverse nature of Boston and have gangsters besides just white Irish ones popular in Boston-set crime films.
The title "Klutch"—also the lead character's nickname—is a nod to the slang for the word "clutch" (and the clutch in a manual transmission) as well as a reference to the film Klute (1971) as is the lead's given name of Bree (which was Jane Fonda's name in Klute).
