Inna Ivanovskaya is an independent filmmaker and a photographer based in the Hudson Valley, NY. A native of Russia she immigrated to the United States in 2017 to escape an authoritarian political regime, to expand her world outlook and to grow as an artist. She enjoys independent cinema as it always has a raw unconventional outlook on life and plan on continuing her deep exploration of immigration and the role of introspection. Her passion for hiking, backpacking, yoga and meditation helped her creative practice to open up and deepen.
As an immigrant I find the importance of sharing my journey of surviving in a big city, trying to obtain papers, going through hardships of trying to fit in and feel at home in another country. There is a whole community of people who struggle as much as I do and the goal of telling these stories is to touch people’s hearts, to educate, to call for action, to make people see things in a more complex way. To make a change. This is me raising my voice for myself and for Others.
