ART. 1
The 8th edition of Documentaria, a documentary film festival, will take place in Noto, from 2th to 6th November 2023, at the Teatro Tina Di Lorenzo
ART. 2 CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
Documentaries must comply with the following conditions in order to be submitted to the festival:
2.1a For the VISIONI DOC ITALIA, no thematic restrictions are applied to any documentary. Such documentaries must have been produced after the 1st of January 2022 by Italian directors and must have a minimum length of 40 minutes.
2.1b For the VISIONI DAL MONDO there are no restrictions regarding countries of origin. Documentaries must have been produced after January 1st 2022, have a minimum length of 40 minutes and relate with this year’s topic marking the 75th anniversary of the Declarations of Human Rights: shed light on rights violations on a global scale, brutal repression on dissent, crimes against humanity, social and humanitarian crises, attacks on the right to protest.
2.2 Documentaries may have participated to other festivals and may have already been distributed through cinemas and television as long as they are not free-distributed online at the time of submission and until the end of the festival. Nevertheless, in case of unreleased films, national and regional premieres will be criterion of preference during the selection process.
2.3 Only in exceptional cases, the festival’s artistic management team reserves the right to make exceptions from the terms listed above.
ART. 3 DOCUMENTARY SUBSCRIPTION
3.1 Enrollments to Documentaria selections must take place via the FilmFreeway platform, from 30st July and no later than 15st September 2023, on the dedicated link https://filmfreeway.com/festival/DOCUMENTARIA
Under penalty of exclusion, each documentary must provide the link for film streaming on the website www.filmfreeway.com.
3.2 The enrollment fee to both competitions VISIONI DOC ITALIA or VISIONI DAL MONDO amounts to 10€.
3.3 If the film language is not Italian, an Italian or English subtitled version must be provided.
3.4 Festival registration is binding and cannot be cancelled whatsoever after the final deadline (15st September).
3.5 The filmmakers and/or the producers are responsible for the content of the submitted film. They must declare not infringing any copyright or right of third parties and they authorize explicitly the use of their works for the purposes of Festival activities.
ART. 4 SELECTED WORKS
4.1 The finalist works of the 8th edition will be unquestionably decided by the Artistic Direction of Documentaria which may be supported by a Selection Committee during the selection process. In case of selection, the filmmaker and/or the producer of the film will be informed by email or through the contacts provided during the registration process.
4.2 Within 7 days from the official communication of being selected, the filmmaker and/or the producer commit to sending the following documents and attachments to the administration office:
---->A copy in high-resolution of the film for the official screening at the festival (it can be downloaded or sent via mail/courier) preferably in .mov or .mp4 [H264 or Apple Pro Res 422] or in DCP. Sending the film in any other file format must be previously discussed with the Festival Direction;
---->A trailer or teaser in Italian and/or English (minimum 30 seconds, maximum 120 seconds) that will be viewable online on the official Festival website. If the trailer is not provided, 30 seconds of the film will be chosen at the author's convenience;
---->Detailed technical data sheet of the work with credits;
---->Short synopsis (max 500 characters) and long synopsis (max 1500 characters) of the film;
---->Director’s filmography (in English and/or Italian, max 1500 characters);
---->Digital poster + 1 director's photo + 4 set photos. Files must be sent in high-resolution (300 dpi minimum).
For documentaries in a language other than Italian, it is mandatory to attach Italian or English Dialogue List and Italian or English subtitles in .srt.
Files may be sent by email to documentariafestival@gmail.com or in data storages, using a courier service, to “Documentaria c/o Francesco Di Martino, Via Vicolo Gallo n.5, 96017, Noto (SR) - Italia”. Documents provided will not be returned and will remain at the disposal of Documentaria. Shipping costs for films and documents are to be paid by the candidates.
The promotional and illustrative materials will be used during the press conferences and included on the catalogue or the website. In addition, they will be eventually provided to television channels and accredited journalists who may freely transmit and/or publish such materials. The organizers have the faculty of promoting and broadcasting audio and video extracts of the selected work (for a maximum duration of 60 seconds) through various means of communication such as press, internet and other official festival channels.
4.3 The filmmaker and/or producer are responsible for the accuracy of the data provided which will be used in the Festival’s promotional and communication materials in case of selection.
4.4 All information and documents concerning the proposed works will be stored in the Festival archive for internal documentation purposes and will be available on the website of the Festival without time restrictions.
4.5 When the filmmaker and/or producer accept the official invitation to the Festival, they undertake to not withdraw the work from the competition. Insofar as the film is subsequently withdrawn by the filmmaker and/or producer, they will pay €500 as a penalty fee and compensation to the Festival.
ART. 5 SCREENINGS
5.1 The selected films will be screened during the days of the Festival and judged by one or more juries coordinated by the Festival Artistic Direction. The decisions of the juries are final.
5.2 There are no screening fees for all selected films. Screening rights are therefore freely granted to the Festival.
ART. 6 DATES, PLACES AND HOURS
6.1 Dates, places and hours of each screening will be communicated to the authors in October 2023. However, they may be modified by the Artistic Direction without any warning limit, but with timely notice to the interested parties.
ART. 7 AWARDS
7.1 All the selected documentaries for the national contest VISIONI DOC ITALIA will be considered for the «Miglior documentario italiano» (Best Italian Documentary) award, which results in a monetary prize to be assigned to the director of the winning documentary.
All the selected documentaries for the section VISIONI DAL MONDO will be considered for the «Miglior documentario internazionale» (Best International Documentary) award, which results in a monetary prize to be assigned to the director of the winning documentary.
Other awards and acknowledgements:
Best Editing, Best Photography, Documentaria Special Mention, Audience Award.
7.2 All the awarded works will receive a plaque related to the assigned award and a personalized certificate. Partnerships with external institutions are in development in order to establish other special awards, whose attributing terms will eventually be set by third-parties themselves. The effective budget of the festival will be officially notified on 30 October at the latest.
7.3 Whereas a work wins a prize or a special recognition, directors and producers undertake to insert the laurel of the prize or recognition in the opening credits of the piece.
ART. 8 ACCOMODATION
8.1 The directors of the finalist works for the VISIONI DOC ITALIA contest will be invited to present their own piece to the Documentaria audience during the days of the Festival. The Festival will provide coverage of the travel expenses (related to the national territory) as well as the accommodation for a night. The director and/or producer of the film, winner of the «Miglior documentario italiano» (Best Italian Documentary) award, will be invited to the Festival on the day of the award ceremony.
8.2 The awarded directors in the section VISIONI DOC ITALIA and VISIONI DAL MONDO will be invited to a video call during the day of the award ceremony. Otherwise, they will provide a recorded video greeting of a maximum of 180 seconds. In addition, all the authors of the awarded works will receive a plaque and a certificate.
ART. 9 RESPONSIBILITY
9.1 Documentaria undertakes to use the information given by the author and/or producer according to the articles 13-14 from GDPR 2016/679-(General Data Protection Regulation). Documentaria declines any responsibility in case of incorrect or missed reception of the documentation of registration, due to the transmission by any means and for any reason.
9.2 The organizers have the authority to address any case that is not expected in this regulation. In case of extreme necessity, they reserve the right to interrupt, suppress, defer the festival or edit the present regulation, at any moment, depending on the needs of its conduction. No damage of any kind will be granted to the participants according to the mentioned possibilities.
9.3 The participation to the VIII edition of Documentaria implies the acceptance of this regulation in its entirety.

ART. 1
L’ottava edizione di Documentaria, festival del cinema documentario, si svolgerà a Noto, dal 2 al 6 novembre, presso il Teatro Tina di Lorenzo.
ART. 2 CONDIZIONI DI PARTECIPAZIONE
Possono essere presentati al festival i documentari che rispettano le seguenti condizioni:
2.1a Per la sezione Visioni Doc Italia sono ammesse opere documentaristiche senza vincoli tematici. Le opere devono essere state realizzate da registi italiani, in Italia o all’Estero, dopo il 1° gennaio 2022 e devono avere una durata minima di 40 minuti.
2.1b Per la sezione Visioni dal Mondo sono ammesse opere documentaristiche internazionali, senza vincoli di provenienza. Le opere devono essere state prodotte dopo il 1° gennaio 2022, avere una durata minima di 40 minuti e avere attinenza con il tema di quest’anno che, in occasione dei 75 anni della Dichiarazione dei diritti umani, intende far luce sulle violazioni di tali diritti su scala globale: dalle brutali repressioni del dissenso ai crimini contro l'Umanità, dalle crisi umanitarie e sociali fino alle più recenti e crescenti minacce al diritto di protesta
2.2 I documentari possono aver partecipato ad altri festival ed avere avuto già una distribuzione nelle sale o in tv, purché, al momento dell’iscrizione e fino alla fine del Festival, non siano distribuiti gratuitamente sul web. L’anteprima nazionale e l’anteprima regionale sono comunque considerati fattori preferenziali nel momento della selezione.
2.3 A discrezione della direzione artistica, e solo in casi eccezionali, sono possibili deroghe alle condizioni di ammissione sopra indicate.
ART. 3 ISCRIZIONE DOCUMENTARI
3.1 Le opere che intendono partecipare alle selezioni di Documentaria possono iscriversi tramite la piattaforma FilmFreeway, a partire dall’1 luglio e non oltre il 15 settembre 2023, alla pagina riservata al festival (https://filmfreeway.com/festival/DOCUMENTARIA). Pena l’esclusione, ogni film dovrà rendere disponibile sul sito www.filmfreeway.com il link per la visione in streaming del film.
3.2 Per iscrivere la propria opera ai concorsi Visioni Doc Italia o Visioni dal Mondo è prevista una fee d’iscrizione di 10€.
3.3 Per i film in una lingua diversa dall’italiano deve essere resa disponibile una versione sottotitolata in italiano o in inglese.
3.4 L’iscrizione al festival è vincolante e non può essere cancellata in alcun modo dopo la deadline finale (15 settembre 2023).
3.5 L’autore del film e/o il produttore rispondono del contenuto delle opere inviate, dichiarano di aver assolto tutti i diritti d’autore verso terzi e concedono esplicita autorizzazione del loro uso nelle attività inerenti al Festival.
ART. 4 OPERE SELEZIONATE
4.1 La scelta delle opere finaliste al Festival è deliberata insindacabilmente dalla Direzione Artistica di Documentaria che, durante le operazioni di selezione, potrà avvalersi della collaborazione di una Commissione di Selezione. Nel caso in cui l’opera venisse selezionata per l’ottava edizione del Festival, l’autore e/o il produttore del film verranno informati via mail o tramite i contatti che fornirà durante l’iscrizione.
4.2 Entro 7 giorni dalla comunicazione della selezione, l’autore e/o il produttore si impegnano a far pervenire alla segreteria:
----> Copia in formato originale del film in alta risoluzione per la proiezione ufficiale al festival (disponibile per il download o via posta/corriere) preferibilmente in formato .mov o .mp4 [H264 o Apple Pro Res 422] o in formato DCP. L’invio in qualsiasi altro formato dovrà essere preventivamente concordato con la Direzione del Festival;
----> Trailer dell’opera in italiano e/o inglese (minimo 30, max 120 secondi). Nel caso in cui il trailer non fosse disponibile, 30 secondi del film a scelta dell’autore;
----> Scheda tecnica dettagliata con crediti dell’opera;
----> Sinossi breve (max 500 caratteri) + sinossi lunga (max 1500 caratteri) del film;
----> Biofilmografia del regista (in inglese e/o italiano, max 1500 caratteri);
----> Locandina digitale + 1 foto regista + 4 foto di scena. Il materiale dovrà essere fornito in alta risoluzione (min. 300 dpi).
Per i documentari in lingua diversa dall’italiano è richiesto l’invio della dialogue list e dei sottotitoli in inglese o in italiano in formato .srt.
Il materiale potrà essere inviato per mail all’indirizzo documentariafestival@gmail.com o tramite supporto digitale spedito via corriere all’indirizzo “Documentaria c/o Francesco Di Martino, Via Vicolo Gallo n.5, 96017, Noto (SR) - Italia”. Il materiale fornito non verrà restituito e resterà nella disponibilità di Documentaria. Le spese di spedizione dei film e dei materiali sono a carico dei presentatori dell’opera.
Il materiale promozionale e illustrativo sarà utilizzato durante la conferenza stampa, per la redazione del catalogo e sul sito Internet del festival, oltre che reso nella disponibilità delle televisioni e dei giornalisti accreditati presso il Festival che potranno trasmettere e/o pubblicare liberamente detta documentazione. Si concede agli organizzatori la possibilità di promuovere e diffondere per mezzo stampa, sul web e sui canali ufficiali del festival estratti audio e video dell’opera della durata massima di 60 secondi.
4.3 L’autore e/o il produttore si fanno carico della veridicità dei dati forniti che, in caso di selezione, verranno utilizzati nei materiali di promozione e comunicazione del Festival.
4.4 Tutti i materiali relativi alle opere presentate alla VIII edizione di Documentaria saranno conservati presso l’archivio del Festival per documentazione interna e resteranno disponibili sul sito del Festival senza limite di durata.
4.5 Nel momento in cui l’autore o la casa di produzione di un’opera accettano l’invito ufficiale del Festival, si impegnano a non ritirare il film dal Festival. Nel caso in cui l’opera venisse successivamente ritirata dall’autore e/o dal produttore, questi corrisponderanno al Festival, a titolo risarcitorio, una somma di 500€.
ART. 5 PROIEZIONI
5.1 Le opere selezionate saranno proiettate durante le giornate del festival e giudicate da una o più Giurie coordinate dalla Direzione del Festival. Le decisioni delle Giurie sono insindacabili.
5.2 Per tutte le opere selezionate non sono previste screening fees. I diritti di proiezione durante le giornate del festival si ritengo quindi concessi a titolo gratuito.
ART. 6 DATE, LUOGHI E ORARI
6.1 Le date, i luoghi e gli orari delle singole proiezioni verranno comunicati agli autori nel mese di ottobre 2023. Potranno comunque essere cambiati dalla Direzione Artistica senza limite di preavviso con tempestiva comunicazione agli interessati.
ART. 7 PREMI
7.1 Tutte le opere in competizione nel Concorso nazionale Visioni Doc Italia concorrono all’assegnazione del Premio “Miglior documentario italiano”, per il quale è prevista una dotazione finanziaria da attribuire al regista dell’opera vincitrice
Tutte le opere selezionate per la sezione Visioni dal Mondo concorreranno all’assegnazione del Premio “Miglior documentario internazionale”, per il quale è prevista una dotazione finanziaria da attribuire al regista dell’opera vincitrice

7.2 A tutte le opere premiate verrà consegnata una targa relativa al premio ricevuto e un certificato personalizzato. Sono in corso di definizione interlocuzioni con organismi esterni al Festival per istituire altri premi speciali che verranno eventualmente attribuiti secondo modalità indicate dagli organismi stessi. L’effettivo ammontare della dotazione finanziaria del festival sarà comunicato ufficialmente entro e non oltre il 30 ottobre.
7.3 Nel caso in cui un’opera risulti vincitrice di un premio o di una menzione speciale, registi e produttori si impegnano ad inserire l’alloro del premio o del riconoscimento nei titoli di apertura dell’opera.
ART. 8 OSPITALITÀ
8.1 I registi delle opere finaliste per il concorso Visioni Doc Italia saranno invitati a presentare la propria opera al pubblico di Documentaria durante le giornate del Festival. Il Festival provvederà a coprire i costi di viaggio (relativi al territorio nazionale) e alloggio per una notte. Il regista e/o il produttore del film vincitore del premio “Miglior documentario italiano” verrà altresì ospitato dal festival il giorno della cerimonia di premiazione.
8.2 I registi premiati nelle sezioni Visioni Doc Italia e Visioni dal Mondo, saranno invitati a collegarsi in video-call durante la giornata di premiazione o a fornire un video-saluto registrato di max 180 secondi. Tutti gli autori delle opere premiate riceveranno inoltre una targa e un attestato.
ART. 9 RESPONSABILITÀ
9.1 Documentaria si impegna a usare le informazioni fornite dall’autore e/o produttore secondo l’informativa resa ai sensi degli articoli 13-14 del GDPR 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation). Documentaria declina ogni responsabilità in caso di errata o mancata ricezione della documentazione di iscrizione, dovuta alla trasmissione con qualsiasi mezzo e per qualsiasi motivazione.
9.2 Gli organizzatori hanno il potere di risolvere qualsiasi caso non previsto nel presente regolamento. In caso di estrema necessità, essi si riservano la facoltà di interrompere, sopprimere, differire la manifestazione o di modificare il presente regolamento, in qualsiasi momento, in funzione delle esigenze di conduzione della stessa. Nessun danno di qualunque natura verrà riconosciuto ai partecipanti in ragione delle menzionate possibilità.
9.3 La partecipazione alla VIII edizione di Documentaria implica l’accettazione di questo regolamento nella sua interezza.
