A Choreography of Violence
A woman must safe herself and escape from a bizarre black room where she waltz with trauma and her biggest fear. A Choreography of Violence is a short film that tells a story about love gone wrong, domestic violence, and freedom. The story is told through contemporary dance, with no dialogue, for the entirety of the film.

Indira Iman is a film student and director based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Born and bred in Medan, she moved to Bandung to study medicine at Padjadjaran University, before she eventually decided to pursue her lifelong passion of storytelling through film in Jakarta Institute of the Arts. She hopes to make her mark as a director through representing women and female-related issues in her films.
Domestic violence has the highest number amongs any kind of violence against women in Indonesia. Many have raised awareness of violence against women through films, but, oftentimes by repeating said violence explicitly on screen. Oftentimes, on-screen violence against women is nothing more than for shock values an entertainment. This film with its experimental form was made to explore the possibilities of how we can depict violence against women without repeating said violence on-screen.
